The three-hour long SAT is often as important to college admissions as a student's four-year long high-school record. The magnitude of this test can eventually help a student enormously, compensating for weak grades or augmenting an already strong GPA. The key to transforming this test into an asset is systematic and diligent preparation.
Tesk-takers who can do basic math and memorize vocabulary words can improve their scores dramatically if they have learned the intricacies of the testing game; however, it's important for them to have help from someone actively designing a program to fit their individual needs.
When I work with students, I help them understand their own strengths so they can rely on their natural abilities on test day. I also focus on targeting and correcting specific weaknesses that are costing the most points on the test. Sometimes eliminating one weakness can allow a student to answer many more questions correctly.
I use mock testing using real SAT's, a structured progression through the most common ideas tested, and a systematic lesson plan tailored to each individual. I offer small classes and one-on-one tutoring.
